Since 1957, the National Youth Orchestra (NJO) has been the breeding ground for young musical talent. This orchestra forms the bridge for young musicians between 18 and 26 years old to take the step from conservatory to the big stages. The intensive program offers these young musicians the opportunity to gain experience in ensemble playing and performing in front of an audience. The NJO works with challenging projects to make this youthful energy radiate from the concert stages.

During the Music Summer Gelderland, young musicians from all over the world shine under the guidance of top coaches and renowned conductors. And at special locations in Gelderland: from Apeldoorn to Nijmegen. But the musical journey does not stop in Gelderland. In the winter, the NJO visits Dutch concert halls with its Winter Tour.

The NJO collaborated with, among others, Jaap van Zweden, Reinbert de Leeuw, Lucas Jussen and Harriet Krijgh. During the concert in this festival, 17 NJO alumni will perform. Valentine Blangé (violin), Rodo Nijhoff (viola), Matthias Pearson (cello), Anneke Attema (double bass), Cem Karayalcin (gitar), Elise Tossens (flute), Marta Pedreira (clarinet), Bernat Sanjuan Boronat (bass clarinet) Ileana Termini (alto saxophone), Aina Font (tenor saxophone), Frans van Gorsel en Oscar Schmidt (horn), Nino Reijerkerk en Christian Jongepier (trompet), Gerrit Jan Elzinga (bass trombone), Yifan Du en Luuk van Raalten (percussion).
